Completion of this form demonstrates your request to enroll your child at KIPP Stand Academy. We are currently accepting applications for students entering 5th, 6th, and 7th grade for the 2012-13 school year. Space is limited. There is no tuition or admissions test to enroll at KIPP Stand Academy.

INFORMATION FOR CURRENT FAMILIES Current students are automatically enrolled for the 2012-2013 school year unless a parent/guardian notifies the school that the student will not attend KIPP Stand Academy next year.


KIPP Stand Academy will honor sibling preference if openings are available in a class and an Enrollment Forms for each sibling has been returned to the school. Please return Enrollment Forms for siblings by April 1, 2013. We cannot guarantee sibling preference after April , 2013 if an Enrollment Form has not been returned to the school.


INFORMATION FOR NEW FAMILIES Priority Enrollment for 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade students is February 1 – April 1, 2013. Students enrolling during this time will be admitted to KIPP Stand Academy and a notification of admittance will be mailed out on April 6, 2013.


Open Enrollment for 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th grade students is from April 15- July 15, 2013. Students enrolling during this time period will be admitted to KIPP Stand Academy based the number of openings available and a notification of admittance will be mailed out no later than July, 20 2013. If the number of applicants exceed the number of spaces available by July 15, 2013, a public lottery (date to be decided if) will be held to determine who will be admitted. Should a lottery occur and all openings are filled, a waitlist will be established and students will be offered a spot at KIPP Stand Academy based on availability.


STATE LAW KIPP Stand Academy follows Minnesota Statues 124D.10 in its enrollment practices. The text of the law is provided below.


A charter school shall enroll an eligible pupil who submits a timely application, unless the number of applications exceeds the capacity of a program, class, grade level, or building. In this case, pupils must be accepted by lot. The charter school must develop and publish a lottery policy and process that it must use when accepting pupils by lot.


A charter school shall give preference for enrollment to a sibling of an enrolled pupil and to a foster child of that pupil's parents and may give preference for enrolling children of the school's teachers before accepting other pupils by lot.


A charter school may not limit admission to pupils on the basis of intellectual ability, measures of achievement or aptitude, or athletic ability and may not establish any criteria or requirements for admission that are inconsistent with this subdivision. The charter school shall not distribute any services or goods of value to students, parents, or guardians as an inducement, term, or condition of enrolling a student in a charter school.
