Did you know National African American Parent Involvement Day (NAAPID) was founded in 1995 in response to the Million Man March? There was a large gathering of African American men in Washington, D.C., promoting African American unity and family values. As a result, NAAPID is now celebrated annually to encourage Black parents to be more actively involved in their children’s education and promote strong partnerships between families and schools.
This is what we all want and we need to understand how important it is.
The outcome is to collectively address the achievement gap as well as disrupt student underperformance.
Again this year, we are inviting all of our KIPP MN families to join us in uplifting this partnership. The annual NAAPID will be on campus on Monday, February 9th where we will discuss our approach to student learning, behaviors and emotional support, how to keep our school community safe, and gather input from everyone.
Date: Monday, February 9th
Time: 9:30-11:00am
Location: KIPP North Star campus (Room 201)
Light refreshments provided. Please RSVP by Friday, February 6th.
